NARRATIVE TEXT

 WHAT IS NARRATIVE ?

Narrative is an account of a sequence pf events, usually in chonological order. Relating to kinds of text, which student has to complete studying in high school, narrative is a text which retells the story or previous experiences. The purpose of the text is to entertain or amuse reader or listeners about the story.

Narrative is basically story and within this, story telling, there are many kinds of narrative-comedy, mystery, romance, horror are some of the commoner types. A poem can also be a narrative if it tells a story rather than just describing something.

When we read a text, we can call it narrative as we see the following generic structure inside the text :

1. Orientation : the introduction of what is inside the text . What text is talked in general. Who involses in the text. When and where it happen.
2. Complication : what happens with participants. It explores the conflict among the participants. Complication is the main element of narrative. Without complication, the text is not narrative. The conflict can be shown as natural, social or psychological conflict.
3. Resolution : this is the phrase where the participants solve the problem aroused by conflict. It is not matter whether the participants succed or fail. The Point is the conflict becomes ended.

EXAMPLE :

THE ADVENTURE OF LITTLE DOG

One sunny day mummy dog and her four babies dig decided to go for a walkacross the field. The saw the farmer with his horse and cart collecting the hay for animals.

A few minutes later, mummy dog and her babies reached a big fruit tree and decided to lie down in the shade. They had not notice that one little dog was missing and soon mummy dog was sleep.

The baby dog came into the farmer's cart. The farmer didn't realize that he brought the baby dog in his cart everywhere.

When the mummy dog woke up. She looked up for the missing baby. She ran around the field and barked to call her baby.

After the baby dog had been wandering for along time. He jumped from the cart and ran to the field back by recognizing the wheel print of the cart. Finally he could met his mother.
